WELCOME TO YOKKAO OPEN BOSTON — TECHNICAL SPARRING

YOKKAO OPEN is coming to the Boston area on December 5, giving Muay Thai practitioners of all experience levels the opportunity to test their skills and take the next step in their development.

Every registered athlete will be carefully matched by age, weight and experience before participating in a controlled Technical Sparring session on the mats, focused on technique, timing, composure and control. Experienced officials will observe each bout and provide valuable feedback, helping athletes recognize their strengths and understand where they can improve.

There are no winners, no losers and no official fight records. The goal is development: building confidence, applying techniques learned in training, improving fight IQ and gaining real experience without the pressure of a competitive fight.

Divisions are available from U8 (ages 5–7) through Adult, creating a fair, safe and challenging experience for every participant.

Whether you are participating for the first time, training recreationally or preparing to progress toward amateur competition, YOKKAO OPEN Technical Sparring gives you the experience, confidence and professional feedback you need to move forward.

• 8:30–10:00 AM — Athlete Weigh-Ins

• 10:15 AM — Rules Meeting

• 10:30 AM — Doors Open to Spectators

• 11:00 AM — Technical Sparring Bouts Begin

ATHLETE REGISTRATION

TECHNICAL SPARRING AGE GROUPS

• U8: 5–7 years old

• U10: 8–9 years old

• U12: 10–11 years old

• U14: 12–13 years old

• U16: 14–15 years old

• U18: 16–17 years old

• Adult: 18 years and over

Weight classes will be assigned according to each athlete’s age and weight to ensure safe and competitive matching.

COACHES ALLOWED PER GYM

• Up to 3 athletes — 2 coaches

• 4 or more athletes — 3 coaches

Athletes who are not representing a gym may still participate. They must be accompanied and coached by an adult holding a valid spectator ticket.

SAFETY COMES FIRST

The safety and development of every participant are central to YOKKAO OPEN Technical Sparring.

• Qualified referees and officials supervise every Technical Sparring session.

• Participants must maintain a controlled pace and appropriate intensity.

• The format allows athletes to apply authentic Muay Thai techniques while minimizing unnecessary impact.

• Officials may pause or stop a session whenever control or safety standards are not maintained.

• Every participant must respect their partner and follow all instructions given by the officials.
